With the sudden burst of global information network, we are experiencing one of the brightest moment in technology and design. Asia today, is no longer at the manufacturing end only, but growing to be one of the biggest consumer focus market for design products.

As we begin experiencing a new cultural revolution, Malaysia is now looking forward to be a part of the new evolution of industrial design today, in hopes to bring their diverse inherent cultural values into the global market.

Puan Futom Shikh Jaafar - Senior General Manager, Malaysia Design Council
The Malaysia Design Council (MRM) was established in 1993 to pave a future of innovation and design for Malaysia. It spearheads design programmes in the country to boost the industry’s design expertise, capabilities and standards. A non-profit agency, MRM is under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. It is regarded as a think tank and advisor to evolve innovative designs among Malaysians, and to ensure that we are on par with international standards.

Sufian Yahuza - President, Pereka (Industrial Design Association of Malaysia)
Sufian started his professional career as a Furniture Designer at Eco-llection Sdn. Bhd. for four years, and then for two years with Spadewell Limited in Hong Kong as Senior Industrial Designer before he joined Grand Banks Yacht Sdn. Bhd. for 3 years as Design Project Manager. In 2006, he is appointed as Chief Designer for Furniture Design Resource Centre (FDRC) for two years before he open his own furniture design and manufacturing consultancy company, Adireka Sdn. Bhd. He is also currently the President of Persatuan Pereka Perindustrian, Malaysia (Pereka). His design experience and portfolio ranges from furniture design, corporate industrial design, yacht and marine product design, brand product development and exhibition design.
